Dismantling the Husky Ethanol Plant at Minnedosa, Manitoba.
In the summer of 2008, after successfully negotiating the sale of the plant, we began
the task of disassembling the plant ready for its relocation.. The plant was to

We developed a system of numbering and barcoding every component as it was removed from the site. All component numbers were transposed onto original site drawings showing the location of the item . The barcodes were then recorded in a database which digitally linked to copies of the requisite location photos, machinery manuals and any other notation relating to the item.
All structural steel was treated in the same manner and identified to drawing sets so that its reassembly would be a simple matter of locating the number members required.
Where operational modifications had deviated from original plant drawings, new drawings were drafted onsite to reflect the changes made and the components involved in that modification.
The project progressed quickly and the site was cleared to concrete level within 4 months. All major components and structural steel were moved to our site for storage. The smaller and more valuable items were carefully packed into sea containers and shipped to the new location.
The project involved dealing with large volumes of waste insulation materials, asbestos abatement, dealing with flammable and corrosive residues and mitigating a huge rodent infestation. All these challenges were successfully dealt with and the site is now ready for remediation in the spring of 2009.
