Brandon Generating Station Coal Pulverizers

 

In the winter of 2006 we were contracted to remove the boiler coal feed system in Brandon Generating Station. This consisted of twelve coal pulverizers,  the blower fans, distribution pipework and scaled hopper feeds.  Each machine was dismantled into smaller components to allow for removal through the service entrance of the building.. The larger components weighed up to 5 tons each.

 

Once the machinery was completely dismantled and removed, the concrete foundations were carefully sawn off close to flush with the floor. Over 30 concrete plinths were removed weighing several tons each. The floor was then prepared and resurfaced with fresh concrete leaving a  smooth floor. Existing hand railings and access  stairs were modified to suit the missing machines and new floor grating was laid to fill in the voids left by the hoppers.

 

The dismantled coal pulverizers were finally loaded onto several semi trailers and shipped to the purchaser for reinstallation.
