Installing Industrial Laundry Equipment.
Brandon General Hospital.
We were contracted to install four washing machines and two dryers as part of a refit of the large laundry system located at the hospital. This was done of a very tight schedule as this laundry processed nearly 1 ton of laundry per hour from several locations throughout the City Of Brandon..
We removed three older washing machines and one dryer by clearing a path and moving the unit on machinery skates to a service entrance where they were transferred to our trailer and removed from site. The machines weighed roughly 4 tons each and exited the service door with less than 1” to spare.
We then delivered the new machines and reversed the process moving the new machines into their final positions. The fit through the service doors required the removal of the doors themselves and the removal of some of the washers components to allow us to squeeze through the opening with only a fraction to spare. Once we positioned the machines we leveled them and grouted them to the factory specifications .
The two new dryers posed a serious problem as even though the doorway had been increased
in size to accommodate the new machines, it was immediately obvious that the dryers
would not fit through. We decided our only option was to dissemble the new dryers
into two parts and lay them on their sides to allow us to fit through the service
entrance. Once the components were inside the laundry room there was very little
head room to re-
